The Transforestière, in a nutshell, is:
- An orienteering adventure race in teams of two (or more for hikers) on a weekend, you choose your path between the control points and you wear your backpack.
- A bivouac tent on Saturday evening, with refreshments and supplies for all participants.
- The hiking spirit on circuits A and B and on circuits F and G (VTT-O), the competitive spirit on circuits C and D (runners).

The participation fee includes supplies at the camp Saturday night and Sunday breakfast.
For Circuits C & D, a less than a year old medical certificate allowing orienteering activity must be presented by participants which are not affiliated to one of the following orienteering federations (FRSO/VVO/FFCO/NOLB). Failure to provide such a certificate will restrict the participant to circuits A or B only.
